QWhat Is A Plus Loan?
APLUS Loans allow parents to borrow to pay the education expenses of any child or children who are dependent undergraduate students enrolled at least half time. PLUS Loans are made through both the Direct Loan and FFEL Stafford Loan programs. Most of the benefits are the same. To be eligible for a PLUS Loan, parents generally are required to pass a credit check. Even without passing the credit check, they may still be eligible for a loan if someone else who is able to pass the credit check agrees to endorse the loan, promising to repay it if the parents fail to do so. Another way to qualify without passing the credit check is to demonstrate extenuating circumstances. The annual limit on a PLUS Loan is equal to the cost of attendance minus any other financial aid received.
